The Well Holdings Ltd. (which operates The Well Irish Pub & Restaurant at Saito Centre, Elijah Cheruiyot St., Eldoret and Rupa’s Mall, Nairobi Road, Eldoret) is currently seeking applicants for the position of Staff Accountant/Comptroller.

Principle duties and responsibilities

• Review and audit daily transactions from point of sales systems and resolve and correct any variances in a timely manner;

• Prepare, record, and process accounts payable and cash disbursements;

• Perform monthly bank reconciliation;

• Prepare and process payroll and deductions schedules;

• Maintain accounts in the general ledger for income, accounts payable, cash disbursements and payroll;

• Ensure food and beverage invoices, delivery notes and requisitions are in compliance with company procedures;

• Oversee that all suppliers’ invoices are appropriately authorized and processed into the purchase ledger on a timely basis, and that payments to all suppliers are processed in a timely manner;

• Respond to any supplier queries in a timely basis;

• Account for stock movements, update the asset register for any new asset additions;

• Conduct daily spot checks of bar/kitchen stocks in the outlets, recording and following up on discrepancies;

• Responsible for inventory management including month end stock takes and avoidance of stock- out situations;

• Responsible for stores/cold room management – and ensuring items are stored and rotated properly;

• Conduct analysis of daily orders to review purchasing against business requirements;

• Implement financial controls policy and ensure adherence by the relevant team members and support for the improvement of accounting systems, policies and procedures;

• Oversee the daily banking and deposits;

• Oversee statutory compliance for branches;

• Support the Managers and Head Chefs in maintaining revenues by developing and updating menu pricing;

• Complete the month/year end process, review and submit monthly/annual reports in a timely manner;

• Ensure processes are being followed and assist in training and implementation of any new procedures;

• Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner; Perform other duties as required.

Requirements of the role

• Progressive employment in accounting function, preferably three years or more in food and beverage, hotel or service sector;

• Qualified internal auditor (IIA) or accountant (CPA, ACCA) or equivalent;

• Computer literacy, keyboarding capability, knowledge of various software applications required for business/accounting operations;

• Strong oral and written communication skills;

• Team player with outstanding inter-personal, negotiation and organizational skills.
